Ex-City lawyer, Ashish Poddar had a dream to unite people in communities across the UK. FreshTies.com is the result: a not-for-profit website that unites individuals, business and charity to combine everyone’s knowledge, resources and goodwill for mutual benefit.
As an individual member you can use the website networking features for your leisure, lifestyle, studies, and career needs. Using simple menu searches, you can find and get in touch with other members whose interests, experiences, age group or location match yours. Together you can make better decisions, get ahead, and get involved in new things.
Using a lifestyle search, for example, you can make contact with other members who are single parents or step parents.
FreshTies now has the support of the Prime Minister, who says, ‘I place great value on social entrepreneurship and so give my support to FreshTies.com with its innovative use of technology to bring people, community and business together for mutual gain.’
FreshTies funds
Half of all membership fees go to local FreshTies funds in members’ areas. The fund is to give individuals in need assistance with everyday things, bypassing fuss, forms and bureaucracy.
For example, in Monmouthshire, baby Thomas Batten was born without eyes. This rare condition affects only about 35 babies born in the UK each year. The family need assistance with the frequent travel costs to see specialists at London’s Moorfield Eye Hospital. Thomas’s dad, Chris Batten, says, ‘With FreshTies there were no forms or red tape. A local FreshTies member knew we had a genuine need and mentioned us to FreshTies. Just days later we received a cheque.’
Ashish says, ‘FreshTies is breaking new ground, and people are catching on. FreshTies is where everyone has something to offer, and something to gain.’
